Senior Care Pharmacy Coalition & “Save Senior Rx Care” Release Statement in Support of Rep. Buddy Carter’s ongoing push for PBM Reform in 2024

DATE: December 4, 2024

The Senior Care Pharmacy Coalition (SCPC), the leading national voice for the long-term care (LTC) pharmacy community, and the Save Senior Rx Care campaign released a statement commending Congressman Buddy Carter’s push for PBM Reform in 2024:

“SCPC is thankful for champions like Congressman Buddy Carter, Senator James Lankford, and the 14 other members who participated in today’s press conference on Capitol Hill calling for the passage of PBM reform in 2024. The harmful practices of the big PBMs are hurting providers and putting Americans’ healthcare in jeopardy, including the two million seniors and other long-term care patients LTC pharmacies serve every day. Lawmakers in both Chambers have made great strides in highlighting the need for PBM reform this year. We commend the nearly 100 members who have signed Congressman Carter’s joint letter calling for passage of PBM reform before Congress adjourns. But time is running short, and we urge Congress to make this issue a priority and pass legislation that includes LTC pharmacy-specific PBM reform. CMS must be given authority to level the Medicare Part D contract negotiation playing field for our pharmacies and ensure their ability to survive and continue serving patients in need,” said Alan Rosenbloom, President and CEO of SCPC and champion of the Save Senior Rx Care campaign.
