Senior Care Pharmacy Coalition Congratulates Kentucky Congressman Guthrie on Becoming Chairman of the Powerful House Energy and Commerce Committee
The Senior Care Pharmacy Coalition (SCPC), the leading national voice for the long-term care pharmacy community, released the following statement today to congratulate Congressman Brett Guthrie on being selected as Chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
“We congratulate Kentucky Congressman Brett Guthrie for being selected Chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee,” said Alan Rosenbloom, President/CEO of SCPC. “Cong. Guthrie is an experienced and proven leader, bringing a strong track record of championing policies for affordable, accessible and transparent healthcare for American patients, including our two million seniors and other long-term care patients.
His leadership on PBM reform the past two years has been instrumental in bringing forward legislation to rein in the drug pricing middlemen’s profit-driven, anticompetitive actions that are harming patients and providers. This is a top issue for the long-term care (LTC) community, as aggressive PBM actions, vertical integration in healthcare and an outdated Medicare Part D pharmacy reimbursement model threaten the longevity of LTC pharmacies.
We look forward to partnering with Congressman Guthrie on critical LTC pharmacy issues and reforms that strengthen our ability to provide essential long-term care services to America’s most vulnerable patients. Americans will greatly benefit from having Cong. Guthrie at the helm of the powerful House Energy and Commerce Committee.”
