Senior Care Pharmacy Coalition Releases Statement in Support of Rep. Buddy Carter & Rep. James Comer’s ongoing push for PBM Reform in March 2025 Funding Package
The Senior Care Pharmacy Coalition (SCPC), the leading voice for the nation’s long-term care (LTC) pharmacy community, released the following statement in support of PBM reform being included in the March 2025 funding package.
“SCPC commends Reps. Buddy Carter (R-GA), James Comer (R-KY), and other prominent Members of Congress on both sides of the aisle for championing the inclusion of bipartisan PBM reform in the March funding package. Their exceptional leadership on this important issue is key to finally finishing the job and passing comprehensive PBM reform legislation that lowers prescription drug costs for Americans and ensures fair treatment and reimbursements for all types of pharmacies.
“PBM reform was right at the finish line in 2024, and now it’s up to the new Congress to do what American consumers, providers, businesses, and taxpayers have been urging them to do for years—pass meaningful reform. For far too long, PBMs have been allowed to engage in predatory and anticompetitive market consolidation practices, which increase healthcare costs, delay patient access to care, and force pharmacies to dispense medicines at a loss.
“As Congress considers PBM reform in the March funding package, it is imperative that they also include long-term care (LTC) pharmacy specific provisions that clearly give CMS the direction and authority to ensure fair contracts and transparent pricing. PBM reform is long overdue, and we’re proud to join our fellow members of the pharmacy community in calling for Congress to finish the job in 2025,” said Alan Rosenbloom, President and CEO of SCPC and champion of the Save Senior Rx Care campaign.
