Cures Releases Pharmacy Lock-In For Long-Term Care
The Senior Care Pharmacy Coalition requested and got an exemption from a provision to combat drug abuse among at-risk seniors in the Medicare program. Beneficiaries in skilled nursing and other long-term-care facilities, intermediate-care facilities and hospices will be shielded from the provision allowing prescription drug plans to require certain seniors to choose a single pharmacy and provider in order to obtain frequently abused drugs.
